When the till's $20 short, know which shift it was
Every cash payment, refund and wallet top-up lands in the drawer record by itself. At close, staff count it, and playdesk says if they're balanced, over or short.
What's included
How the drawer is tracked
Named tills
Set up each till with its own default opening float, like the front desk and the bar.
Shifts with names on them
A shift opens on a till with an opening float and one or more cashiers. A cashier can only be on one open shift at a time.
Count by note and coin
Count the drawer by denomination, or enter a total if you're in a hurry.
Balanced, over or short
The count is checked against what should be there. If it doesn't match, the person closing has to write a note.
Money in and out by hand
Pay-ins for change, pay-outs for petty expenses with a category and reason, and drops to the safe or bank. The drawer can't pay out more than it holds.
Nothing to key in twice
Cash bill payments, refunds and wallet top-ups are added automatically. Cash taken while no shift is open is held until a shift picks it up.
Saturday close
The front desk till should hold $850. It holds $830
The shift opened at 4pm with a $200 float. By midnight it had taken $1,085 in cash, two cash wallet top-ups, a $20 refund, a $15 pay-out for ice and a $500 drop to the safe.
The closing cashier counts the drawer note by note and gets $830. playdesk shows $20 short and won't close the shift without a note.
Sunday morning, you open the shift report and see who was on, every pay-out with its reason, and the note. No adding up receipts on the back of an envelope.

FAQ
Cash management questions
Does it track card payments too?
Card payments are recorded on every bill and show in your takings by method. The drawer record only follows physical cash, because that's what you count at close.
Can I run more than one till?
Yes. Add as many named tills as you have, each with its own shifts and reports.
Can I see pay-outs by category?
Yes. Cash reports break down by till, by staff member and by pay-out category, so you can see what petty cash went on this month.
Does playdesk open my cash drawer?
No. It doesn't connect to cash drawer hardware. It keeps track of what goes in and out, and what should be there when you count it.
