About playdesk

We make software for venues that rent out time

Snooker clubs, padel courts, gaming lounges, bowling alleys. Most are run by small teams who can't justify enterprise software, and shouldn't have to.

Our mission

Give independent venues software as good as what the big chains use, at a price that makes sense when you have eight tables, not eighty.

Our vision

Closing up should take five minutes. Lock the door, glance at the day's numbers, go home.

Our story

Why we built playdesk

We kept noticing the same thing. A snooker hall, a padel club, a bowling alley and a gaming lounge look nothing alike, but they run the same way. Someone books a space, plays for a while, pays, and hopefully comes back next week.

Yet the owners we met were getting by with a booking app made for appointments, a till that had no idea a game was running, and a spreadsheet to join the two. Every night someone stayed late making the numbers match.

So we built playdesk around the space itself. It knows about tables, courts, lanes, pods, rooms and stations, and the booking, the timer, the bar tab and the staff login all hang off the same record.

Values

What guides how we build

Start at the front desk

When we design something, we picture the person at the counter on a busy night, not the owner's spreadsheet.

Fewer tools, not more

Bookings, the till and customer records work better when they share the same data. So we build them together.

Easy on day one

A new hire should be able to take a booking on their first shift without a training manual.

Fit the venue

A bowling alley and an escape room don't run the same way, and we don't make them pretend to.

Roadmap

Where we're headed

  1. Now

    The core

Bookings, session timers, the till and kitchen queue, split bills, wallets and credit, cash shifts and reports, for all six space types.

  2. Next

    Receipts and messages

Printed and emailed receipts, and booking confirmations and reminders by WhatsApp and email. After that, QR ordering from the table and memberships.

  3. Later

    Payments and stock

Card payments that confirm themselves, loyalty points, stock tracking with low-stock alerts, kitchen tickets, and leagues and tournaments.
